Why Composite Over Pressure-Treated Wood?
Pressure-treated wood decks require sanding, staining, and sealing every 1–2 years to maintain appearance and prevent rot. Composite decking — especially Trex — eliminates that maintenance cycle entirely. No splinters, no rot, no annual refinishing. Over a 25-year lifespan, a Trex deck typically costs less than a wood deck when you factor in maintenance.
Zero Maintenance
Trex composite boards never need staining, sealing, or painting. Cleaning requires nothing more than soap and water a couple times a year. The color you choose on day one is the color you'll have in year twenty-five.
Superior Durability
Trex boards are capped on all four sides with a protective polymer shell, making them highly resistant to moisture, mold, mildew, and UV fading. In the freeze/thaw climate of Westchester and Fairfield County, this matters enormously — wood decks crack and splinter; Trex doesn't.
Eco-Friendly
Trex composite boards are made from 95% recycled materials — primarily reclaimed wood and plastic film. Choosing Trex means keeping roughly 400 million pounds of plastic and wood waste out of landfills annually.
Trex Product Lines
Trex offers four distinct decking collections, each at a different performance and price tier. We carry all of them and will help you choose the right product for your project, budget, and how the deck will be used.
Trex Select®
Trex's entry-level composite line. Solid color boards with a smooth surface — a significant upgrade over pressure-treated wood in terms of maintenance, longevity, and appearance. The right choice for projects where budget is the primary constraint.
Trex Enhance®
A mid-range line with a more realistic wood-grain texture and a wider color palette than Select. Available in Naturals and Basics sub-lines. Enhance Basics is the best value in the Trex lineup for most residential decks.
Trex Transcend®
Trex's flagship collection — deep, realistic wood grain texture, four color collections (Tropics, Earthy Tones, Grays, and Lineage), and a 25-year fade and stain warranty. The most popular choice for primary outdoor living spaces where aesthetics matter as much as performance.
Trex Transcend Lineage™
Trex's newest and most premium collection, featuring wider boards (6-inch), a refined wood-grain texture, and a rich palette of five curated colors. Designed for discerning homeowners who want the most realistic composite deck on the market.
What Trex Pro Platinum Means for You
Most deck contractors are not Trex certified. The Trex Pro Platinum designation is the company's highest contractor tier — awarded to installers who complete Trex's product and installation training and demonstrate consistent quality. As a Platinum contractor, we offer benefits that non-certified contractors cannot:
- Access to Trex's full product lineup including exclusive collections
- Priority access to new product launches and technical resources
- Trex-backed installation expertise — we know the fastener systems, framing requirements, and details that protect your warranty
- Ability to process warranty claims directly with Trex on your behalf
- Annual recertification — standards maintained, not just earned once
- Trex Protect™ joist and beam tape installation for maximum moisture protection

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Trex Pro Platinum and why does it matter?
Trex Pro Platinum is the highest tier of Trex's contractor certification program. It requires verified installation quality and track record — fewer than a small fraction of decking contractors hold it. It means your deck is built to Trex's exact specifications, ensuring both the product warranty and our installation warranty apply in full.
How long does Trex decking last?
Trex Transcend carries a 25-year fade and stain warranty, and composite decking routinely lasts 30+ years with minimal maintenance. Unlike wood, it won't rot, splinter, or be damaged by insects — making it particularly well-suited to the Northeast's wet springs and humid summers.
Does composite decking get hot in summer?
Modern capped composite from Trex is significantly cooler than first-generation products. In direct full sun, any dark surface will get warm — composite and dark wood stains both. Lighter color choices help considerably. Trex's capping technology also helps with heat dissipation compared to older uncapped composite.
Do I need a permit for a Trex deck?
Yes — any deck attached to the house or elevated more than 30 inches above grade requires a building permit in virtually all Westchester and Fairfield County municipalities. As a Trex Pro Platinum Contractor, we handle all permit applications and inspections as part of the project.
